Ever wondered what that little hole was for in your Z1's rear fender, just underneath the license plate?
Well, KMC thought it might be a good idea to have a little rubber bumper there, that makes sure the license plate doesn't hit the fender !?
I have no idea how you could actually accomplish that, unless the license plate is totally loose, but that hole is actually for this little Christmas tree looking gadget. As most of them dried out over the years the rubber cracked and the bumper eventually fell out. Previously not available you could do nothing else but leave it be, but now a reproduction of Kawasaki part number 92075-176 is available to fill the hole. Correct and used on all 900 Z1 models as well as the KZ900A model from 1976.

Often a cause of irratic idle are dried up intake manifolds allowing air to enter resulting in uncontrollable carburetor settings with irritating results.
